WHITE OAK UK STRENGTHENS COMMITMENT TO LEGAL SECTOR WITH LAW SOCIETY OF SCOTLAND PARTNERSHIP
A new relationship will give Scottish solicitors and their clients enhanced access to flexible funding solutions
Glasgow, 2 June – White Oak UK, one of the UK’s leading non-bank lenders to SMEs, has today announced a new partnership with the Law Society of Scotland (LSOS).
The partnership will further strengthen White Oak UK’s presence in the legal sector, giving LSOS’s 12,000 Scottish solicitors and their clients improved access to flexible funding solutions designed to support growth, working capital, and cashflow management.
White Oak UK is one of the few alternative lenders with an established, on-the-ground presence in Scotland, supporting businesses locally from its Glasgow office. The business has continued to expand its commitment to the Scottish market, having earlier this year announced a partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) as part of its strategy to increase support for professional services firms and SMEs seeking funding for growth and liquidity.
Scotland already represents a significant and growing part of White Oak UK’s lending activity, accounting for more than 15% of total lending in 2022. This latest partnership further reinforces White Oak UK’s long-term commitment to the region and forms part of its pledge to lend £80 million to Scottish businesses in 2023.
Christian Elson, Head of Strategic Origination Partnerships at White Oak UK, said:
“While many legal firms have strong ambitions to grow, we often see expansion plans delayed by cashflow pressures – whether due to delayed legal aid payments or the increasing lead times involved in casework. Our role is to help bridge that funding gap, enabling well-run, ambitious firms to continue investing for the long term.
Partnerships like this are a key part of that approach, allowing us to extend our reach across the legal sector while providing solicitors and their clients with access to flexible, dependable funding solutions.”
Jack Rowberry, Business Development Manager at the Law Society of Scotland, said:
“I am very pleased to welcome White Oak UK to our Member Benefits programme. Access to appropriate finance can play an important role in supporting law firm growth – whether that is enabling investment in people, improving client experience, or supporting business development. We look forward to building a strong and productive relationship with White Oak UK for the benefit of our members.”
